About

I’m Kenn Zhengchuan Mei, a cinematographer based in Los Angeles. I graduated in Film from ArtCenter College of Design.

Narrative is where I started, and it shapes everything I shoot. Most of my work now is story-driven commercials: spots that have characters, a beat and an ending, made on a commercial schedule. I still look for narrative shorts and features to shoot whenever the calendar allows.

I work as a Director of Photography and as a 1st AC. Pulling focus on larger sets taught me to plan coverage around what the crew can actually light, pull and move on the day. I often stay with a project from treatment through the final grade in DaVinci Resolve.
